Guide 03

Unstable Wi-Fi: how do you isolate the problem?

An unstable connection may affect one device, one area or the entire network. Identifying what is affected helps avoid unnecessary configuration changes.

First checks

Start by observing, without taking risks.

  1. 01

    Compare several devices

Check whether the problem affects only one computer or also phones and other connected devices.

  2. 02

    Observe the distance

Note whether interruptions occur mostly far from the router or in one particular room.

  3. 03

    Test a wired connection

When possible, an Ethernet test helps distinguish a Wi-Fi issue from the Internet connection itself.

  4. 04

    Note when interruptions occur

The frequency, duration and timing of interruptions provide useful diagnostic clues.
